Common Questions About Seamless Gutters

Why should I install gutters on my Vermont home?
Gutters protect your foundation, siding, and basement from water damage. In Vermont, spring snowmelt and heavy rain generate large volumes of water quickly — properly functioning gutters direct it safely away from your home rather than pooling against your foundation.
What are seamless gutters?
Seamless gutters are fabricated from a single continuous piece of aluminum cut to the exact length of your roofline — no seams along the run. Joints only occur at corners and downspout outlets. Fewer seams means fewer leak points, better performance under Vermont’s heavy snow loads, and less maintenance over time.
Why choose seamless over sectional gutters?
Seamless gutters have fewer leak points, a custom fit to your roofline, better appearance, less maintenance, and a longer lifespan — especially in Vermont’s freeze-thaw climate where expanding ice stresses every joint in a sectional system.
What gutter sizes do you install?
5-inch K-style for residential properties and 6-inch K-style for commercial buildings, barns, and larger structures. Both fabricated on-site in .032 gauge aluminum — the heaviest gauge available — in 16 colors. Copper available on request.
What colors are available?
16 standard colors — from classic white and eggshell to brown, gray, and dark bronze. We’ll help you match your gutters to your home’s trim and siding during your free estimate. Copper gutters are available for a premium, distinctive finish.
How long does installation take?
Most residential installations are completed in a single day. Because we fabricate gutters on-site at your property, there’s no waiting for pre-made materials — we arrive, measure, cut, and install in one visit.
Do you repair existing gutters or only install new?
Both. We repair or replace sagging sections, gutters pulling from the fascia, and damaged downspouts. When repair isn’t cost-effective we’ll say so honestly. We never push replacement when a repair is the right call.

Vermont Weather & What It Does to Gutters

What is an ice dam and how does it form?
An ice dam is a ridge of ice at the edge of your roof that blocks melting snow from draining. Heat escaping through the roof melts snow above, which runs down and refreezes at the cold eaves. Backed-up water can force its way under shingles and cause serious interior damage — a common and costly Vermont problem.
Do seamless gutters cause ice dams?
No. Ice dams are caused by heat loss through the roof, not by gutters. The real fixes are improved attic insulation and ventilation.
How does Vermont’s climate affect gutter performance?
Heavy snow loads stress hangers and fascia. Frequent freeze-thaw cycles expand and contract every joint. Rapid spring snowmelt generates large volumes of water in short windows. Lake-effect precipitation in the Champlain Valley intensifies both. This is why we use .032 gauge aluminum (heaviest available), Hangtite hangers rated to 260 lbs, and screws instead of nails — details that matter in Vermont but are often skipped elsewhere.

Keeping Gutters Clear

Do you install gutter guards?
Yes. We install drop-in gutter covers to keep leaves and debris out. Vermont’s hardwood forests make gutter guards a worthwhile investment — they significantly reduce cleaning frequency and keep gutters flowing through fall and early spring freeze-thaw periods.
How do I protect against clogs?
Professionally installed gutter guards are the best protection. The gutter covers block debris while letting water through.
